Book signing LONDON - Video and Pics
Our friend Annalisa went to the book signings (and she is an italian girl), in London. She shared with us some pics (great pics BTW) and a little video with Jack, Kat and Lily.
Here is what Annalisa said to us:
"The book signing was amazing actually! So many people there, everyone was so excited!
I went there 4 hours before its start, they made us wait outside hmv...it was freeeeezing! :(
But then Lily passed in front of us out of the blue and everybody was shocked...we couldn't believe it was her! :D Then they let us in and we went to the table where kat, lily and jack were sitting. They were all soooo nice! Kat is so tiny and adorable, Lily has got such a sweet smile and Jack is so hilarious! But unfortunately it all went by so fast that I couldn't even realise I had just met them! I would like to meet them again! :D
Hope u'll enjoy my pics!"
Bellow is the video and click in the image for the pics (you gonna love them).

Skins – the Novel Review

August Week 4
After the catastrophe that was Polly’s house, Cook, Freddy and JJ head to a more up market club than usual and they stick out like sore thumbs. Cook thinks that because they are in a better club the girls will be the same and fall into his hands like usual however Freddy and JJ disagree. Trying his luck Cook approaches some ladies in the corner and turns on the charm but to his surprise the woman are not interested in the slightest. JJ is sitting making origami out of the cocktail menus when two girls of a similar age approach him and they talk about making different things. Cook tries his charm on the two girls but once again they aren’t interested in him but more interested in the things that JJ is making.
Freddy – Grapes and Favour
Whilst JJ was making origami and Cook making a tit out of himself as usual Freddy takes a moment to think about the message he sent to Effy and the thought of never seeing her again. Deep down he knows that if she comes back the whole thing will start again and he’ll lose his best friend but he still regrets sending it from the moment he did. Seeing Freddy in thought, Cook comes across and asks his friend what is wrong with him however not wanting to make it obvious Freddy says nothing. Knowing Freddy to well and exactually what is wrong with him, Cook downs a shot and the pair decide to forget about Effy once and for all.
JJ – Grapes and Favour
While Freddy and Cook have gone outside for a smoke, JJ is still talking to the girls about the origami. The girls ask about his best friends and why he is actually friends with them to which JJ tells the girls that there ok really when you get to know them. One of the girls gives JJ a hug and they leave as Freddy and Cook return. The boys give JJ the thumbs up for talking to the girls and the three musketeers are once again.
With Florence’s funeral arrangements being sorted by Anthea, Effy has avoided any communication with her mother since the day she found out about her and Aldo. Thinking about how she trusted Aldo and how she thought that he liked her as much as she liked him, Effy decides to get ready and finally face her mother. After having a bath she makes her way to the kitchen where Anthea is waiting with a cup of tea and her favourite sandwich. Sitting at the table, Effy decides to break the silence with her mother and talk about sorting Florence’s funeral out however it isn’t long before questions are turned to Aldo and Anthea. Unable to talk about anything Effy gets up to leave but Anthea pleads with her to sit down and talk to her. Anthea tells Effy about how she feels so bad for neglecting her and what happened with her dad and Aldo was a big mistake. They decide to leave Venice after everything is sorted with Florence and go to Rome just the two of them.
Fitting right back into couple life, Emily and Naomi are deciding what to do with their day. With Kieran cooking them a celebratory meal at night the girls can’t decide what else to do. Naomi receives a text from Kieran however she doesn’t tell Emily what it’s about as she still hasn’t told her about her plans to go to the Yale open day and pretends it’s about dinner. Emily decides she’d like to go shopping to get something to wear for that night and they leave the priory hand in hand however when they get around the corner things get steamy and they decide on a quick circuit around the shops and back to Naomi’s.
Naomi – Campbell Dinner
Sitting at the table, Naomi and Emily tuck into the meal that Kieran has prepared. Talking about when Emily was away, Naomi’s mother and Kieran take it upon themselves to embarrass her and tell Emily how much of a nightmare she was. The conversation then moves on to the subject that Naomi has been dreading and the four start to discuss university however Naomi is sharp to move the conversation on which makes Kieran realise she hasn’t discussed it with Emily. Feeling nervous, Naomi says that they’re going to bed but Emily asks what the hell is going on. Trying to distract the conversation Naomi tells Emily she wants her naked which does the job and the pair go to bed. Lying awake, Naomi knows what she needs to do but it isn’t going to be easy.
Katie
Back in Bristol with the gang at last, Katie sees Freddy at the bar and approaches him. Saying hello, Freddy is taken back by the fact that Katie actually wants to talk to him after everything that has happened and being clumsy knocks the glasses off the bar. He asks Katie if she’d like a drink but she buys her own and goes to join the rest of the gang. With the only seat available next to Naomi, Katie sits next to her sister and her girlfriend and things are finally at a truce. Cook does the honours of handing the drugs out to the gang and the pub quiz gets underway.
Naomi
With the constant niggling of the Yale open day in her head, Naomi decides that it’s time to tell Emily about her decision. Easing her way in, Naomi tells Emily that she loves her and Emily tells her the same back but with the pub quiz in full swing it’s difficult to keep the conversation flowing and Naomi struggles to tell her. With answers to questions being shouted around the room, the banter begins to arise and soon Naomi and Cook are engaged in an argument. Making jibes at the future for Cook, Naomi soon finds herself being insulted with the usual homophobic rubbish but cook steps too far and Naomi blurts out to the whole gang about her Yale open day leaving Emily hurt.
Emily
Feeling humiliated and hurt that her girlfriend hadn’t told her about the open day, Emily begins to get herself upset. Naomi tells her that she still wants to be with Emily no matter what and that there strong enough to get through anything however Emily doesn’t see it like this and thought that they would be going to the same university and sharing the experience together. With a sudden between the two Naomi tells Emily that she won’t go if she doesn’t want her to, part of Emily tells her she should let her girlfriend go but the relief was too much and she tells her she won’t regret it.
Cook
Feeling left out and stupid, Cook decides to get the shots going around the table and lighten up the mood but cook being himself begins to get on everyone’s nerves. Getting worked up about not knowing any of the answers to the questions Cook beings to take his temper out on JJ who seems to know the answer to every question but Freddy steps in to calm him down telling him that he doesn’t know the answers himself and that everything is going to be ok. With that he gets back to irritating his friends and drinking.
Freddie
When Emily gets up to go to the toilet, Freddie sits next to Katie and asks to have a chat with her. Katie, surprised by Freddie agrees and he asks her about what she’s been doing these holidays. When she tells him that she’d been to Venice, Freddie begins to ask her questions about Effy and the feelings start all over again. Katie tells him that she’s still not over what happened with the three of them but she isn’t seeing anyone or she wasn’t when she was there. Feeling relief but not showing it they get on with the quiz until the question of whether she was coming back springs into Freddie’s head, to which Katie tells him that she doesn’t know. The pair share a mutual smile and then Freddie writes the answer down to the newest question.
JJ
Being the boffin that he is JJ takes it upon himself to answer almost every question in the quiz with the occasional input from Thomas. The pair get competitive but to everyone else it’s just a laugh. With Uncle Keith well and truly Mortal drunk, Cook takes over as quiz master and carries on reading the questions. With everyone else drinking apart from JJ he enjoys the fact that he continues to excel every fortnight at the pub and feels proud of himself. Feeling the love, Cook clambers over the table to embrace JJ and makes him promise that he won’t ever leave him. Promising him this, he tells cook to get off and they carry on with the quiz.
With Effy and Anthea on their way out of Italy and on their way to Rome, they order their drinks from the list and sit back and relax. Now that she was at peace with her mother and they reached an understanding since Aldo and everything else that happened back in Venice, Effy beings to think about going home and seeing Freddie again for the first time. Also thinking about that fact that she had come between two best friends and they both had chosen each other over her makes thinking about going home even worse.

Skins - The Novel Review
Written by Marie Davis
August Week 3
With it being Aldo’s birthday Effy is searching high and low for the perfect present for him and Katie is being dragged along with her. Going into an old second hand shop, Effy buys Aldo an old book which she knows he likes and the pair head back to the apartment as Aldo is meeting them soon. Anthea is making coffee’s and pastries when tells the girls she’s going to pay Florence as she has been unwell recently and just as she leave Aldo walks through the door. He tells the girls that it is his 40th Birthday, he is having his children to celebrate over to celebrate and would they like to accompany him to which Effy obviously says yes so Katie is going to. Anthea, returning soon after leaving with Florence being asleep declines but decides they shall have a party when they return. Effy, Katie and Aldo are soon outside his Ex wives house where a average looking woman with no makeup turns up at the door soon barged out of the way by two beautiful looking children, one boy one girl who throw themselves onto Aldo. The 5 are soon outside what sounds like a lazar gun – virtual war kind of place where the kids are enjoying themselves. Soon, much to Effy’s delight it is only her and Aldo left in the game and once again she makes the wrong move however Aldo doesn’t make a big deal and the silence is broken by his little girl shouting for him. Later that night, Effy Katie and Aldo arrive at the apartment where Anthea has made a big effort for the birthday boy. Tea lights, bottles of wine and cake the party gets going but as soon as possible Effy finds a moment to give Aldo his present and he absolutely loves it. Alone again things get tense however they are soon interrupted by Anthea giving them some unexpected news. Florence wasn’t waking up.
Cook – Freddy’s shed
Back in Bristol, Cook Freddy and JJ are in the shed chilling out as usual. With Cook ahead in the game he takes the chance to rub it in but Freddy takes this the wrong way and the friction between the pair is rife. As always JJ lightens the mood but Cook has something in mind to finish the game once and for all. Putting forward the suggestion of having a threesome, Freddy hold back to accept the offer and the chance to win the game however with jibes from cook he soon says yes and they decide to meet at 7oclock that night.
Freddy – Outside Polly’s house
The boys head to Polly’s and are standing outside her house when Freddy starts to feel uneasy about the whole arrangement, however cook knocks on the door and within 30 seconds they are all sat inside Polly’s house. Bringing them cocktails Freddy, Cook and Polly are chatting whilst JJ watches the television looking quite out of his depth. Cutting the small talk, Freddy and Cook are soon in Polly’s bedroom and the supposed fun begins, Cook takes his turn first however is cut short when Polly decides its Freddy’s turn. As Freddy tries to enjoy himself, Polly has an idea of her own and asks Freddy and Cook if they would have sex with each other. The boys obviously decline and Cook starts to rant about how this wasn’t the plan however Polly tells Cook a few home truths about how the game is childish and she kicks the boys out. With Cook’s pride hurt and Freddy feeling embarrassed they grab JJ and leave.
JJ – Two Minutes Later
Standing outside JJ, Cook and Freddy begin to walk away from the house when all of a sudden JJ hears a thud and turns to see Freddy standing over Cook and blood pouring from Cook’s nose. Telling Cook that he has embarrassed them all and for the last time Freddy walks away however it isn’t long before Cook is on his feet and giving as good as he gets. With Effy coming into their argument Freddy and Cook are on the floor with fists flying everywhere, suddenly JJ begins to shake and has becomes Locked on screaming and shouting for his friends to stop fighting. Realising that he is being held, JJ stops to find Cook and Freddy cuddling him and reassuring him. Telling JJ that their best mates for life and everything is fine, Cook turns to Freddy however Freddy doesn’t show the same reaction but they stay together just hugging JJ.
Hanging around the apartment waiting for Aldo to pop by, Effy and Katie are sitting drinking and talking. Seeing her neediness, Katie tells Effy that she’s realised how much she wants Aldo but Effy being Effy tells her otherwise. Describing how she used to see Effy giving her awful looks when she was with Freddy and how those looks matched to what she saw when Aldo was with his children Katie tells Effy how it is. Playing it cool Effy takes a drink, just as she does this she feels her phone vibrate. Taking it from her bag she reads the message, dropping the phone in shock the tears well up in her eyes. Katie takes the phone and reads the message from Freddy which tells Effy ‘Not to bother coming back’ and Katie suggests that they go and see Florence since she might be out of hospital to take her mind off things. On the other hand, taking into account what Katie told her about herself Effy realises that she hasn’t change but only brought her Problems from home with her in a different form and with that she has other plans and the pair of them go out and get drunk. Leaning against the bar, intoxicated, Effy attracts the attention of the locals however Katie just stands back and watches her. Soon after, Effy drags Katie into the toilets and is sick, Katie trying to be a good friend cleans her up however Effy decides that it’s time to tell Katie a few of home truths of her own. Telling her that she’s ugly and always trying to impress and that she is the exact opposite, Effy is left alone in the club as Katie doesn’t take her insults walks back to the apartment deciding to leave first thing in the morning.
Katie – Venice at night
After leaving Effy in the club, Katie wanders around Venice trying to find her way back to the apartment. Crossing many bridges she stops on one to see a couple in a gondola and thinks back to the night of Aldo’s birthday party. Thinking about how spending so much time with Effy was a real eye opener and how happy Effy actually looked when she was spending time with Aldo she realises that she’s besotted by him and how empty she is without this feeling. Katie also thinks about how she misses her own dysfunctional family and takes her phone out of her bag to tell her mother she’ll be home in the morning.
Arriving back at the train station, Katie is greeted by her mother and they get in the car back to the chalet. Katie’s mother tells her that Emily has gone back to Bristol because she was pining over Naomi and that she was hoping that her and Josh were going to hit it off thinking of Emily only going through a phase. However Katie tells her mum that Emily is in love and nothing is going to change that, her mum in shock by her sudden change of opinion Katie tells her she has changed. Back at the chalet, Katie rings Emily and the twins sort out the problems from the week’s events and share gossip, becoming friends again. Katie also tells Emily, feeling lonely, tells her that she wants what she and Naomi have and that she never wants to lose her twin. With the drama behind them, for once Katie feels lucky to be who she is!
Emily – Home again
Back in Bristol, Naomi arrives at the Fitch house however before she can even knock on the door, Emily is standing in front of her and the pair just take a second to look and realise how much they’ve missed each other. Pulling her girlfriend into the house the pair waste no time in catching up on what they’ve missed out on over the last few weeks and make full use of the house and its content. On the table, in the kitchen, on the settee by the time they reach the twins room the pair can do nothing but hold each other. Deciding to spend the next summer together, the girls fall asleep in each other’s arms and nothing else matters because Emily has sorted things out with her girl.
After a rather crazy night with Thomas on Brandon Hill, Smoking weed drinking and eating doughnuts, Pandora wakes up to her mother tickling her feet. Questioning the time she arrived home the previous night because Effy is away with her Mother, Pandora feels it’s time to tell her mum about Thomas. She explains that Thomas isn’t like other boys and her mother suggests that Thomas should come for tea. Ringing Thomas with such excitement he arrives at the door, dressed in a suit and tie and the evening gets going. Watching television in the living room with lemonade (with added vodka) Pandora can’t wait for her mother to go to bed so she can finally have sex with Thomas. After a lovely meal Pandora’s mother insists it’s time for Thomas to go home but filed with alcohol Pandora stands up to her mother and asks since it is late could Thomas stay the night. Knowing the answer already deep down her mum says no and Thomas is ready to leave but Pandora won’t give up that easy and starts to shout at her mother. Feeling embarrassed Thomas leaves without saying goodbye and Pandora and her Mother were officially at loggerheads. Pandora tells her mother that she has already had sex and that she’s nearly a grown up and should be able to do what she wants however her plan takes a wrong turn and her mother tells her if she’s that grown up then perhaps she should go and live somewhere else, tough love is in the process and with that Panda packs a bag and heads off to Aunt Lizzie’s.
Naomi – Emily’s Bedroom
After their romantic reunion, Naomi and Emily are lying in Emily’s bedroom. Thinking back to yesterday and how happy she was to finally have her girlfriend back with her Naomi goes to make herself a glass of water. Getting up she looks out the window at the perfect Cul-di-sac where the Fitch’s lived and the room that Emily and Katie shared. How could she stand it, the thongs lying everywhere, pictures of David Beckham on the walls and the old my little ponies! Naomi thinks of her own room at home and her own individual space she has where she’s alone when she wants. Venturing downstairs Naomi decides to make a cup of tea for her and Emily, waiting for the kettle to boil she thinks about the future, was she scared of moving forward or staying in the now?
Sitting having tea with Aunt Lizzie, Pandora begins to explain what happened with her and her mother the night before and why they have fallen out. Explaining about her mother still thinking of her as a little child, wanting more respect from her mother, wanting to have sex with Thomas and boundaries Pandora listens to her Aunt as she tells her that her mother also needs respect and that it’s going to be hard for her to let go. Not hearing what she expected Pandora goes for a walk to her favourite seat in the back garden and decides to give Thomas a ring. Whilst on the phone the couple decide to meet up to talk about things but Pandora still has the wrong frame of mind and thinks Thomas won’t be able to resist her.
Thomas – En route to Aunt Lizzie’s, Later
On his way to Aunt Lizzie’s, Thomas takes time to think about what he is going to say to Pandora and also runs his mind over the events which involved Cook. The thought of Cook having sex with Pandora before him and the pure and innocent girl that she was before all of this brings back the feeling of hatred for Cook. In Congo Pandora would have been valued greatly but now Thomas feels that she has changed and her view of their relationship is based on sex. Arriving at Aunt Lizzie’s just after 6, he tells Pandora to sit down and the couple begin to talk. Just as he thought, the conversation once again turned to sex and with this Thomas leaves Aunt Lizzie’s and Pandora behind him.
Pandora – in bed, later still
Lying in bed that night Pandora takes into consideration all of the events from the past day and is undecided, should she phone Thomas? Would he still have her back? After an hour of wondering she finally picks up her phone and decides to ring him. Explaining to him that she has been the childish one and that she hasn’t shown her mother or Thomas any respect, Pandora decides to go home and apologize to her mother once and for all. Tough love had gone on long enough! Telling Thomas her plan he tells her to wait there. After half an hour there is a knock on the door, thinking it is Aunt Lizzie Pandora tries to stop her coming in but to her surprise Thomas walks in and he gets into bed with her. Taking their clothes off and Kissing each other Pandora’s wish has finally came true.
Now that Katie had gone back to France, Effy is once again left alone decides to go and visit Florence. After walking in to the apartment she feels taken back by the appearance of Florence after her minor stroke but Florence as always lightens the mood and she and Effy begin to chat. Quizzing her about Aldo and her mother, Effy soon feels relaxed and humbled by the old ladies clear words of wisdom. With Florence getting tired, Effy goes back to their apartment to find her mother slaving over the stove and the table set for three. Knowing that Aldo was clearly accompanying them for dinner, Effy starts to run over the thoughts in her mind that have caught her out so many times. Aldo soon arrives and they sit down to eat and drink once again. Among the wine flowing and the table conversation Effy soon feels a bit worse for wear and takes this to her own advantage as she asks Aldo if he will take her to the toilet. Being the gentleman that he is he takes her to the ladies however once again the alcohol takes hold of Effy and she invited Aldo into the toilet with her and various other gestures. All so familiarly Aldo restrains and bids her goodnight with another failed attempt under her belt Effy goes to bed.
After another attempt to try and make Aldo hers, Effy is lying awake in bed the morning after. Suddenly she hears the voice that makes her smile however not outside or even in her head but coming from the bedroom next door, her mother’s bedroom. Aldo and her Mother were having sex and he didn’t want her, neither and neither did Freddy anymore. Trying to block out the noise, she falls back to sleep but is woken by the sound of her mother sweeping up. Anthea goes into Effy’s room and sits down on the bed beside and breaks some very bad news, Florence had died in her sleep that night. Staring at her mother they say nothing and Anthea realises that Effy knows some other bad news and leaves her to it. Waking up again the apartment is empty and Effy gets dressed to go out, just as she’s about to leave Aldo walks through the door. Hoping that they could have had lunch together, Effy declines and runs off the church. Wailing and Sobbing Effy sits in the church thinking about her mother and Aldo, how much of a bitch she was to Katie, Freddy and how she will never be able to talk to Florence again. Sadness turning into anger Effy runs back to the apartment where her mother and Aldo are having dinner. With fury and rage she swipes the table clean with glass and plates crashing all around them. Lying on the floor cut by the glass, Effy realises there is nothing left for her and that she’d rather be dead than be here.

Skins – The Novel Review

August Week 2
Back in Bristol Naomi, Cook, Freddy and JJ are in what i can only imagine as another club. Cook is hard at the ‘Game’ and JJ is sitting merely observing when Naomi feels the need to talk to JJ about what happened with him and Emily. Talking about the one time only charity event, Naomi explains to Jay that she is totally fine with what happened and that it was in the past. With Naomi and JJ friends again, Freddy joins them at the seats. Touching on what is a sore subject, Naomi talks about Katie and Effy and what happened at the camping trip. Freddy feels the need to protect Effy and him and Naomi only disagree with what each other say. With that she leaves the club with only one thing on her mind, Emily.
With Emily not exactually up to much this holiday she is already tucked up in bed when Katie arrives home from another night of mindless activities. Thinking about what her and Josh spoke about at the beach the previous day, she strikes up a conversation with her Sister. Things are still quite sour between the twins and the starting of the conversation isn’t a pleasant one. With every question Emily asks, Katie snaps back until Emily finally gets to the bottom of why Katie acts the way that she does. As a result Emily and Katie snuggle up together and decide that they’re going to go to Paris the next day together and finally get their relationship back on track! For now...
With the twins back on speaking terms they get ready for their trip to Paris, Emily as always is prepared and ready to go while Katie is taking everything apart from the kitchen sink with her! Just before leaving Katie sees that Emily has left her phone on the bed her having an ongoing problem with Naomi, takes the phone and puts it in her bag. At the train station, they are having something to eat when Emily suddenly realises that she has left her phone and asks to borrow Katie’s phone to get in touch with her girl. However she can’t get in touch with Naomi and Katie feels as smug as always that she’s once again in the way of her twin and her girlfriend.
Naomi – Bristol
With Katie’s scheming plan in action, Naomi tried desperately to get in touch with Emily and obviously has no luck. Getting more and more annoyed and frustrated as Emily doesn’t answer, Naomi goes downstairs to find Kieran at the kitchen table marking some work from the collage. They soon begin to talk about the subject of what Naomi is going to do with her life as the last year of collage looms. Being passionate about politics and general studies Kieran tells Naomi that if she doesn’t apply to university she’s stupid because she has such potential and with that he hands an application to Yale University America to her. Taking this back to her room, Naomi is left feeling confused about what to do , take hold of her future or leave the thing that has made her so happy behind?
Katie – Hotel evening
The twins have finally arrived at the hotel and are getting ready to go out for a night in Paris. Drinking wine and having a laugh, the girls arrive at the club and begin the night. Emily has no problem dancing and enjoying herself without a care in the world however with the men and the scenery being so different Katie feels out of place and alone. Emily tries to bring Katie around however feeling as she does she bursts into tears which sparks another argument. Emily tells Katie that it’s not just her that feels out of place and the pair begin to argue from the bar back to the hotel room. Katie tells her sister that she will never leave her but Emily doesn’t respond knowing that she is just doing it to get in the way of her and Naomi. Feeling alone once again Katie goes to the bathroom and takes a long look at herself, doing what she does and being who she is doesn’t make her happy. There is nothing left for her
Waking up after the argument from the night before, Emily thinks Katie is in the bathroom. Banging on the door thinking Katie is in the Bathroom it suddenly opens and Katie is no were to be seen. Searching everything and everywhere she can think of Emily begins to think of all the possible things that might have happened to her. Stopping at Bars and Cafe’s Emily bumps into a girl called Anna who helps her to look for Katie and the pair get talking about different things. Anna is also gay and she shows Emily the gay bars around Paris and Anna asks Emily to go for a drink later that night. Getting back to the Hotel room Emily feels a shadow of guilt come over her after thinking about what she said to her twin the previous night and now she had gone and Emily has no idea where. Angry at her twin but upset Emily realises that Katie took her phone to try and get between her and Naomi and with that she rings her parents to see if Katie has been in touch. Emily talks to her parents and they try to think about where she might have gone and within a few hours they call her back to say that Katie has been in touch. Katie has decided to go to Venice to see Effy and hearing this information and Naomi not returning her calls she decides to go for a drink with Anna.
Arriving at the designated Bar, Emily greets Anna and she takes Emily over to meet her friends and they begin to party. Taking cocaine and drinking a cocktail of drinks things start to hot up and Anna takes Emily into the back of the bar where is scenery is a lot different from where they just were. Girls Kissing and engaging in a lot of other activities Emily is left watching Anna and another girl having sex. Anna asks Emily if she would like to join in but with her mind on Naomi and no one else she declines and leaves the bar to go back to the hotel.
Leaving the Hotel, Emily tries to forget the previous night and all its antics and the constant reminder of Naomi and how angry she was going to be rattling around in her head. Arriving back at the Fitch chalet, she darts to the bedroom to put her phone on charge and as the phone starts to charge she has 10 missed calls. The feeling of relief and dread sweep through her with that she calls Naomi back. Emily explains what happened with her phone and how Katie had disappeared and decided to go off to Venice to see Effy however Naomi being as stubborn as she is just cuts her off and they decide to talk about things later. The feeling of hurt and guilt spreads across Emily once again.
Naomi – Uncle Keith’s
After the cold conversation with Emily, Naomi goes to the pub to see Cook and the famous Uncle Keith to try and cheer herself up. Sitting with Cook, Naomi begins to question why he looks so down and what he’s going to do with his life. Cook being Cook tells it how it is and has no plan of action for leaving collage so in return he asks Naomi why she looks so depressed. She explains about how she loves Emily but needs to do what is best for her future and with words and kindness and wisdom Cook tells Naomi that she’s going places and everyone knows it. Naomi is left feeling bad about how she treated Emily on the phone and had she been the one to mess it all up?
Effy – San Lucia Train Station Venice
With Katie deciding to join Effy in Venice, Effy waits at the train station for her to arrive. Wandering through the crowd like a D list wag with her lyrca dress and shiny red wedges Katie spots Effy standing by the ticket machine and the pair fight through the crowds to the outside. Stopping for a bottle of wine, Effy notices an instant change in Katie attitude and appearance and she asks why she’s here considering she’s supposed to hate her guts. Katie explains what happened in France with Emily and why she had to get away so the pair head off for back to the apartment. With no surprise to Effy she walks in to find her mother and Aldo drunk and still drinking more, not having seen Aldo since what happened in Lido she holds back however Katie is straight away joining in with the fun and talking to Aldo and she beings to wonder what she has let herself in for.
After the first in Venice Katie wakes up to the noise of Effy and her mother arguing about the previous night. Katie stands by the door listening until Effy walks into the hall and the pair bump into each other. Covering up the fact she was listening, Katie asks if it’s ok to have a shower and with that she goes to the bathroom however she finds herself wondering why she even came to Venice. Thinking back to the night she left Emily in Paris and how she wondered aimlessly around towns, how she got in touch with Effy and about the last time she was actually happy Katie is left feeling disappointed.
JJ – JJ’s Bedroom
With the Game still going steady, JJ and Cook are sitting in JJ’s bedroom and as he is the score keeper Cook shows him the evidence for another point on his side of the scoreboard. However the game is starting to get to JJ and he’s sick of having to listen to the fact that Freddy and Cook are having frequent sex and he on the other hand is not. With that Cook takes it upon himself to help JJ and find him a girl that will have sex with him without the charitable cause. Later that night JJ finds himself walking to the club to meet Freddy, Cook and the blind date however he starts to freak out and can’t do it. Cook and Freddy try to calm JJ down but he hears the girl calling him a special needs kid and he runs home. After having a wrestles night JJ wakes up on the floor fully dressed not being able to sleep so he goes for a walk. Whist walking he comes across Thomas who is waiting for the bus to work and JJ decides to go with him. Telling Thomas about the Game and how he isn’t having sex at all, Thomas explains to JJ that he does not need to have these relations and that in actual fact he and Pandora are not having sex either however much she wants to. He also tells JJ that he is a good person and his time will come which leaves him feeling content, for now.
Katie – Effy’s Place Later
Katie and Effy are sitting in the apartment when Effy’s mother Anthea asks them what they are doing today, the conversation soon turns to Aldo and Effy and her mother begin to argue again. With Anthea out of the way, Katie Effy and Aldo go out to the Balcony for a smoke when they begin to talk more about Aldo and his life, he beings to tell them about his days at university and the person he did once love. Aldo then goes on to explain more and the girl he did love and how she killed herself with that Katie feels a bit freaked out and leaves Effy and Aldo to it. Noticing that she is somewhat the spare part in this equation she goes to bed thinking about a lot of different things.

Skins – The novel Review
Marie Davis
Prologue – The prologue to the book basically sets the scene for the first chapter, which leads me on to...
August Week 1
Effy and her mother have left Bristol and their problems (Cook and Freddie & Anthea and her affair) behind them to see the wonderful sights of Venice. Staying in a rented apartment which isn’t much to the taste of Effy, she takes off to see if she can find normality in the form of an internet cafe. Whilst out she comes across some Italian guys, pretty similar to Freddie, JJ and Cook who she instantly does not get along with and a few insults are shared! Coming to the rescue is a older guy, Aldo who approaches Effy to see if she’s ok, they start talking and then with a bit of English charm she does a small favour for the man in the form of letting him in his flat (with the use of a credit card). The pair shares a smile and then she’s back on the route to find normality.
Back in Bristol, Naomi and Cook are in what I can only presume as a nightclub. Cook’s doing what he does most certainly best, getting smashed and taking drugs and Naomi is there with him. Dancing and drinking, Cook tries to turn on the charm with Naomi but deep down knows better however he still tries. With Naomi’s mind obviously else where she tells him to shut it and with that Emily arrives to her delight. Cook full of friendly jibes, is left to his own devices and Emily and Naomi greet each other and head into the girls bathrooms to and I quote “Do something deviant”
After the night before, Naomi and Emily are in her room and loved up as ever! The couple are getting on like a house on fire and well basically doing what couples do. Not wanting to waste a second without each other they kiss and touch a lot. Emily is going to France that afternoon and she wants to make sure that Naomi isn’t going to do anything stupid for example shag cook. Naomi assures Emily and they just lay holding hands.
Emily – Naomi’s Bedroom (Later)
After another snooze, Emily wakes up still in the bedroom of her girlfriend’s house. Waking before Naomi, Emily takes to minute to realise that she finally has the girl of her dreams and that she loves her back as much as Emily loves her. Emily wakes Naomi up and the girls have some fun before heading to get some food. With Emily leaving for France, the girls spend the morning/afternoon talking about different things but most of all Emily’s mother and how she is going to be a “pain in the arse” all holiday.
Naomi – At home (Evening)
With Emily gone, Naomi is alone and spending the night with her mother and Kieran in the attempt to try and get on without having Emily by her side. The thoughts of getting a summer job run through her mind in the effort to get on with things while her girlfriend is away. This results in an argument between Naomi and her mother as other issues such as wanting Naomi out of the way get brought in and they all go to bed with the mood left sour.
Pandora is still blissfully in love with Thomas and all she can think about is having sex with him, however with Effy away for the summer and her mother totally against all things boys Pandora has to cope with the feelings she’s having all on her own. Pandora still regrets what happened with Cook very much and feels ashamed with herself, she has now become a woman and feels that it’s time to tell her mother about the feelings she is having. However this does not go to plan and once again Pandora is left feeling like the child her mother still thinks she is.
Thomas – On the way to meet Panda
Thomas as usual has all his priorities set and in perspective and is adamant about one thing, he will not have sex with Pandora until the time is right. Talking about how he values and loves Pandora he explains about how he does not want to just give her exactually what she wants but to wait until the moment is right and the event is special. As he meets Pandora, she is in floods of tears about the conversation she tried to have with her mother however this offends Thomas as he thinks mothers should not know about their children having sex. Pandora takes this the wrong way thinking that Thomas doesn’t want to have sex with her however he sets the record straight with her and all is well.
With Effy’s mind on Aldo and trying to bump into him, she walks around trying to bump into him. Funny enough she does and her mind instantly turns to trying to have sex with him. On the other hand she learns that Aldo has a wife (soon to be ex) and children. She tells Aldo that she’s going to do some searching around the island which results in him accompanying her. All Effy can do is think about what she could do to him.
Cook, Freddy and JJ back as the three musketeers are standing at the Bus Stop, Cook and Freddy smoking a spliff and JJ standing and watching as usual. Cook starts commotion as normal and the three run to take cover in Freddy’s shed where cook has a proposition!
Freddy – The shed
Sitting in the Shed, Cook proposes the game to Freddy, The game being to have sex with as many girls as possible. A whist cook talk about the game Freddy’s mind is on one thing, Effy, What was she doing right now? But on the other hand he loved her and she fucked him over so with that thought the game is on and JJ is the referee.
JJ – The kebab shop
Looking at things from an analytical side as always JJ thinks about the game and what it might actually mean to cook. Thinking about how Cook lost Effy to Freddy and how that appeared potentially like a game, JJ knows cook has invented this game as a way of getting back at Freddy and bring the score back to 1-1.
Effy – Venice by night
After searching around the island, Effy accompanies Aldo to a classical Music event in the Town. With her mind still on what she could do to Aldo all she can think about is kissing him however Aldo does not see her this way and they end the night with a subtle goodnight. Back at the apartment Anthea has befriended an old English woman so the three of them sit in the kitchen and drink Sambuca and chat. For the first time Effy thinks about Cook and Freddy and how she wished she had them with her.
The Fitch Family have arrived in France, Katie is straight away fighting for the attention of the boys and Emily is just wishing she was home to be with her Girl. Whilst sitting pining for Naomi, Emily gets chatting to a boy from the chalet next to theirs and they decide to hang out sometime. Emily’s mother witnesses this and instantly this leads to an argument about Emily’s sexuality once again to which she obviously tell them she’s still gay! She decides to head off to call Naomi in a more private place than the chalet and the girls do only what they can across the phone.
Katie – the beach late
Making the most of her time in France as she would back at home, Katie is having mindless sex and that is about it. On a ferry, on the beach, in another chalet there is no stopping her. However back at the Fitch chalet feelings take their toll on Katie as she thinks about Emily and how she is so in love. As a result Katie is left feeling bruised and trying not to cry.
With the rest of the Fitch Family out, Emily has the chalet to herself and time to think about Katie and what time she got in the night before however it isn’t long before her parents and little brother James are back and trying to force her to spend time with her sister on the other hand Emily has other plans for her day – spending it with the boy from the chalet next door Josh. The pair hang out and soon realise that they have more in common than they think, Josh is also gay and his parents have dragged him away to try and make him see sense. They spend the day on the beach talking and Katie comes into conversation, with the content of their chat Emily realises that her and Katie need to have a chat.
Effy – Venice
After a hard night of drinking with her mother and the old lady Florence, Effy wakes up on the bathroom floor and feeling rather ill. Sorting herself out she goes to the kitchen ready to leave the house for another day of exploring but when her mother says that she is spending the day with Aldo and Florence, Effy joins them. They go over to a little island called Lido where they go to a restaurant and Effy begins to drink again. Losing control over the wine she shows the others and herself up in the restaurant and they are removed. With her mother furious and embarrassed she takes Florence home leaving Effy and Aldo alone. Under the influence Effy makes the move she has been longing to make and for a second Aldo does not resist but then stops her and they leave to try and sober her up.

Complete Naomily phone sex - extracts from Skins the Novel
Here is the full phone sex conversation between Naomi and Emily that belongs to the new Skins Book "Skins the Novel".
‘HELLO? I’m GAY,’ I hissed loudly.
‘Whatever you say, darling!’ trilled Mum, doling out helpings of tart.
Jesus. I preferred Angry Denial. A whole two weeks of this shit.
‘No dessert for me,’ I said, grabbing my phone. ‘I’ve got a call to make.’
I sashayed past Mum, who pursed her lips, desperate to have the last word.
‘Yeah,’ said Katie. ‘None for me either. Got to watch my fabulous figure.’
‘Even if no one else is,’ I quipped. I made quickly for the bedroom, slamming the door in Katie’s face as she got there.
‘Fucking muff-munching bitch,’ she said, rattling the handle aggressively.
I let her in after five minutes of rattling and door-beating, and decided to call Naomi from somewhere more private. The beach would do. I left Katie trussing herself up like Jordan’s little sister. False eyelashes, cement mix foundation, skirt up to her fanny. But what did I know. She’d no doubt find some moron to have sex with her. I didn’t imagine they’d be that fussy down at ‘Foam Nite’ – the village disco organised by the holiday reps. I’d rather have killed myself than attend that little gathering.
It was a clear night as I walked down to the beach. Sky turning darker and darker blue. The stars were starting to come out. I lay on the sand, looked up at them and thought about Naomi. I missed her like hell. I checked the time on my phone: not too late to call. She answered immediately.
‘Hey lover.’ It was so good to hear her voice I could have cried.
‘Hey you. How’s it going?’ I said.
‘Oh, you know. Amazing. Watching Mum and her boyfriend totally loved up really can’t be underestimated as a form of awesome entertainment. I never knew just how stimulating it is watching two old desperados pawing each other every second of the fucking day.’
‘Fuck, honey. That’s evil.’
‘Yeah. It’s shit. But tonight was always going to be a bit shit.’ She sighed. ‘How about you?’
‘Same. Going out of my mind. Mum’s already tried to set me up with a boy.’
‘Oh, Jesus. Who?’
‘Just a kid who’s got a chalet next door. Seems OK actually.’
Silence.
‘Though, obviously I am not interested.’
‘Whatever. Think I care?’
‘I should fucking well hope so!’
I knew she was smiling, though she didn’t answer.
‘I wish you were here with me right now, on this beach, looking up at the stars,’ I said.
Naomi groaned. ‘Me too. I can’t stop thinking about us in my bed.’
‘I know.’ I hesitated. ‘Remind me…What were we doing in your bed?’
‘Well...’ Naomi began, but then I heard footsteps behind me.
‘Fuck, someone’s coming,’ I hissed down the phone. ‘I’ll call you back.’
I turned around to have a go at whoever was creeping up on me. It was Josh.
‘What are you, some kind of perv?’ I said, looking up at him. I couldn’t see much in the darkness, but I could tell that he was smirking.
‘Um, no,’ he said. ‘I’m someone with ears. There’s no breeze: sound travels.’
‘Right.’ I stared at him, clutching my phone.
‘Right. Well. Sorry. I’ll leave you to it,’ he said. He trudged off up the beach.
I felt a bit bad.
‘Hey?’ I called after him. ‘If you’re not doing anything tomorrow…Maybe we could, you know, hang out or something?’
Josh grinned. ‘Sure,’ he said, walking backwards now. ‘I’d like that. Just give us a knock.’
‘Excellent.’ I gave a cheery little wave.
I watched until I saw him go into his chalet then picked up my phone and pressed redial.
‘Hey you,’ I said. ‘I was worried you might have gone to sleep.’
‘No chance. Not when I’m thinking about undressing you.’
‘Yeah?’
‘You’ve got your white cotton knickers on, and I’m kissing you up the insides of your lovely thighs…’
‘Should I take my knickers off?’
‘No…I’m doing that. Then I’m going to move further up…Slowly at first then....’
‘Faster,’ I said breathlessly. ‘Do it faster.’
‘You love that,’ she said.
‘I fucking love it. Can you see my tits?’
‘Yes, and you’re touching them…your nipples are hard. And I’m rubbing myself up and down your thigh.’
‘Jesus...’ My heartbeat was skipping, increasing. I had my hand down inside my knickers, my fingers probing as I imagined they were Naomi’s tongue. ‘I’m going to come,’
I said breathlessly. ‘I want to kiss you...’
With a euphoric rush I came, one hand trembling clutching the phone to my ear.
‘I love you,’ I said, at the same time as Naomi. ‘I love you so much.’

Skins The novel extracts - Emily, Katie and Naomi
Ok here it goes the extract of Skins the Novel that E4 gave us today.
This one is with Emily, Katie and Naomi..
EMILY
Friday 7 August
Bonjour France Vacances! Resort, nr Bordeaux, France
‘Ooh, hello,’ said Katie loudly, tossing her hair like a frisky Shetland pony. ‘What do we have here?’
It was day four of our jolly family vacances but the first day here, at Butlins de la Mer. We’d stopped off at Cecile and Ed’s (friends of Mum’s and Dad’s) place in Lyon for a couple of days and Katie and I had done a pretty good job of avoiding each other. Helped by the fact that Cecile’s nineteen-year-old son Fabien had been shagging her in his bedroom most of the time. James isn’t much better company, but at least I can hit him whenever he opens his mouth.
So now Katie and I were tolerating a rare moment of occupying the same proximity, sitting on the mound of decorative rocks outside our chalet, watching a family arriving, climbing the steps up to theirs. A fit boy with dark curly hair and long brown limbs was carrying a lilo and a huge rucksack. Katie leaned back on her arms, pushing her legs into a position where they looked longer and thinner than they actually are.
The boy carried on up the steps. He didn’t seem to have heard her, didn’t even glance at her. Bad luck, Katie.
‘Hey,’ she said sharply. ‘Are you deaf and blind or something?’
He stopped, and looked down at her. ‘What?’
‘Forget it,’ said Katie, getting up and brushing grit off her arse. ‘Loser.’ She clambered haughtily down the rocks to the beach.
‘Charming.’ He looked at me, did a double take, and raised his eyebrows. ‘Jesus. There’s two of you?’
I laughed for the first time in about four days.
‘Ignore her,’ I said, extending my hand. ‘We are so not identical. My name’s Emily.’
‘Josh.’ He was luscious, I’d give him that. Katie’d totally blown it with her fucking hissy fit. He looked back at her, striding angrily across the sand.
‘Does your sister know she’s got her mini skirt tucked into her thong?’ he said.
I liked him already. ‘Oh, she knows all right,’ I said as my mother came out of our chalet, beaming like a hetero-seeking satellite. I stood up quickly. ‘Better go, maybe see you later.’ I skipped past Mum who was no doubt already planning her wedding outfit.
‘Definitely,’ said Josh. ‘Later Emily.’
‘So?’ said Mum as we all sat down for our dinner. ‘You’ve made a new friend then, sweetheart?’ Fair play to her, she’d managed to restrain herself for a whole hour while she was getting the food ready.
‘What? Who?’ I said, innocently. I ate a mouthful of lamb chop.
‘The boy. Josh is it? He’s very handsome.’
‘Oh, him.’ I reached across for the red wine to pour myself another glass. ‘Yes Mum, he’s really good-looking. I think Katie wants him, though. Right Katie?’
‘No way,’ Katie snarled, pushing her food round her plate. ‘Pretty boys like that are not my type.’
Like fuck they aren’t
‘Mine neither,’ I said, looking pointedly at Mum. ‘Obviously.’
Mum rolled her eyes and gave me a totally infuriating ‘We’ll see’ smirk.
‘Oh, you could do a lot worse,’ she said. ‘Both of you.’ She started collecting up the plates and carried them over to the kitchen counter. ‘Anyone for apple tart?’
Here we go.

Skins The Book-"What they did last summer"-Freddie,Cook and JJ
E4 published some parts of the SKINS BOOK .. this first chapter we can read some of the adventures of freddie cook and JJ...enjoy
COOK
A bus stop
‘Fuck me.’ I took the spliff out of my mouth and gave it to Freddie. ‘Fucking weak as piss, that. Who give you that, man? It’s rancid.’
Freddie give me one of his little-boy-lost faces. Shrugged his skater-twat shoulders. ‘Dunno. Mate of Karen’s, I think.’ He checked my face, which was full-on fucking incredulous. ‘No, not Johnny White. I’m not fucking stupid.’ He chucked the spliff in the gutter.
‘Good to hear it, my friend!’ I slapped his arm, pulled my hand away and wrung it in the air. ‘You been fucking lifting forklift trucks, Fredster? Your biceps: hard as a fucking brick.’
JJ smiled, that serene smile. Don’t drink, don’t really smoke, our resident fucking looney tunes. What the fuck does he use to take the edge off? He pointed at the soggy spliff. ‘Are you keen to get hassled by those two upset-looking policemen coming towards us? Or are you both off your heads? Literally, or otherwise.’ He bent down, picked up the joint and threw it over his shoulder.
‘Little bastard,’ came this spindly old bag’s voice behind us. ‘Went straight in my shopping that did.’
Freds, JJ and I shrugged simultaneously. Fred and I smirked. Didn’t know her. Didn’t care.
‘No respect for anything these days, you lot,’ the hag went on. She poked JJ in the back. ‘You, young man. I know your mother . . . she collects my library books for me. Oh, I’ve seen you in her car. Don’t think I won’t tell her what you’ve been up to…’
‘I didn’t. I wasn’t—’ spluttered JJ, red as a fucking beetroot. Freds and I snorted with laughter. And I couldn’t help myself, I turned round.
‘Fancy a quick one?’ I said, running my tongue over my lips. ‘Bus won’t be here for ages.’
As the old crone opened and shut her wizened old trap, the three musketeers legged it all the way back to Fred’s place.
I had a proposition for him.
FREDDIE
The shed
‘Right Freds,’ said Cook, rubbing his hands together like a dirty old man. ‘I’ve got an offer you can’t refuse.’
Didn’t like the sound of that, not least because he was probably right. Cook has a way of getting what he wants.
‘You’re gonna love this one. A little game to pass the time, just you and me.’
‘What about JJ?’ I said.
‘Jay’s already in the loop, right, Jaykins?’ Cook leant forward in what he liked to call ‘his’ chair – it was in my shed but whatever – and pointed his fag at me.
‘You pulled last night, yeah?’
‘Yeah. So?’
‘It was good, yes?’
‘Yes, it was most enjoyable. Is this going anywhere?’
‘Right, so: four weeks, you and me, whoever gets the most pussy wins. There’s got to be deep penetration, man, and stuffing the same bird twice doesn’t count.’
‘Nice,’ I said sarcastically. But as Cook’s ideas go it wasn’t bad. It didn’t involve anything illegal, for a start. And for various reasons I was totally in the mood for oblivion of the sexual variety. Fuck it.
‘Yeah, all right then.’
‘Correct answer, my friend. GayJay’s keeping score, but we’re gonna have to steal some evidence to give him – sticky knickers, a jizzy condom…that sort of thing.’
‘That doesn’t sound sordid at all,’ I said dryly.
It didn’t really matter to me, though. Like I said, I’ve had it with the meaningful shit. I loved a girl. She fucked off and left me. I’m not falling into that trap again.
I still checked my phone every hour, though.
What was she doing now?
‘So.’ Cook stuck his hand out. ‘May the best man win.’
I narrowed my eyes at him. So, that’s your game is it? I thought. Well fuck it, then.
‘Absolutely,’ I said, ignoring his hand. ‘Game on.’
JJ
Kebab shop
Fuck off, fruitnut,’ said Cook. ‘This ain’t got nothing to do with Effy. So, are you going to keep score?’
It was 2am and Cook and I were at the counter of Abrakebabra. We’d been at the Caves, where Freds and Cook had both had sex (not with each other. Even Cook draws the line somewhere. And not literally in the club, which I believe is frowned upon: Cook had it down an alley and Freddie left to go back to a girl’s place). Pandora and Thomas and Naomi were there too, so it was a good night even if I did just dance on my own and try not to think about the fact that I was the only one without the option of post-club sex. I was sitting a song out drinking my fizzy water when Cook reappeared.
‘I thought you were having sex?’ I shouted.
‘Yeah. Finished. Listen Jay, I’ve got a plan. Let’s go.’
And he dragged me to the kebab shop and bought me a chips in pitta.
He explained the rules, which nearly all made sense. In an entirely morally dubious way, obviously.
There’s a reason why Cook came up with this game. I’m no fan of cod psychology and actually I’m rubbish at the empathy-slash-emotional-engagement side of things, but in this case even I could see it. Effy wanted Freddie the whole time she was with Cook: Cook lost that game. So he’s invented one he thinks he can win, which he probably will as sexual intercourse to Cook is like Earth’s yellow sun to Superman. Without it, he’s powerless, or he thinks he is. (Which is of course where the Superman analogy breaks down as, unless you count pre-1986 incarnations, he really is powerless without solar energy, whereas I’m almost certain the blood would continue to pump around Cook’s body even if he didn’t have regular exposure to girls’ naughty bits.)
I put my analysis to Cook. He wasn’t impressed. Hence the fruitnut comment.
‘OK, I’ll keep score,’ I said, finally. ‘But, just out of interest, why didn’t you ask me to take part in the game?’
Cook grinned in a childlike manner. ‘Because you’d lose, Jaykins.’
‘I believe it’s the taking part that counts,’ I said, frowning a little.
‘And so it is. Which is another area where you may fall short, my virginal friend.’
‘Get lost. I’m not a virgin.’
‘Might as well be, mate.’
A fair point with which I couldn’t argue.
All things considered, I was pleased Cook had come up with the game. It meant he and Freddie were friends again, that they’d be happy, and therefore that I’d be happy.
Relatively speaking, obviously.
