"H&R Block has become the fourth company to pull its advertising from MTV's controversial new show Skins.
Taco Bell, Wrigleys and GM have already announced that they will no longer air commercials during the programme, which has been heavily criticised by the Parents' Television Council.
TMZ reports that H&R Block has now claimed that its advertising should never have been broadcast during Skins.
"H&R Block is not an advertiser of the show," a spokesperson said. "One ad ran by mistake as part of a rotation. Once we learned this, we immediately took steps to ensure it didn't happen again. This programme is not brand right and H&;R Block did not select it to be part of our rotation."
The PTC recently asked for a federal investigation into allegations that Skins is breaking child pornography laws but an MTV spokesperson has previously said: "We are confident that the episodes of Skins will not only comply with all applicable legal requirements but also with our responsibilities to our viewers."
