Well, since the first episode of Skins US, all the newspapers and magazines are talking about Skins... In Europe, Skins is a reference show and has also gained a lot of awards. The problem that Skins Us is facing never happened here with Skins Uk... Different continents, different laws... Well, SKins MTV is facing true problems... not just because most of the people didn´t like the fact that the first episode is just like skins uk but also because of the laws of child ponography. I don´t know what to think of this... and if you follow our website you know that we try to be the most informative that we can and try not to give our own opinions... but i feel i must say something... the fans are reacting really bad to the first episode, but the show had a great audience in Us, so i presume most of the people will also watch the second episode TEA. In fan forums the actors areloved and Tea is one of the most charismatic character since the beggining (everyone knew this replacement so don´t understand the MAXXIE TT thing).
It seems that a lot of people are forgetting that this show has also the magic of the kings of Skins Uk, Jamie Brittain and Bryan Elsley. They don´t let us down normally, so have a little faith in this show from now on. I don´t think this is a lack of respect to the skins Uk... this means that skins uk is quality show and this kind of things always bring renown to the original version of Skins.
I know that Effy is not how it should be, and that the actors have a lot to learn, but even Jamie Brittain said already that he is proud to have is name on this show, so have a little faith... as far as i know the episodes from now on will be original episodes... so no more "copies"...
I wrote all of this because in this moment, skins Us needs our support and i would be very happy if the fans give one more chance to this show that is passing by a very bad moment. Like i said to someone... why not have Skins on Tv two times a week? this is a good thing right?
Here is an article of what skins mtv is passing through:
The US remake of Brit favorite Skins drew a ton of attention during its premiere Monday night for its portrayal of teen sex and drug use. Despite already being toned down for US audiences and federal regulations, some say the show has still crossed a line.
The newest controversy emerged out of concerns fearing the show violated federal child pornography laws. Most of the actors in the series range from 15 to 19, making the situation a bit tricky. Executives are particularly concerned about an upcoming episode, which shows 17-year-old actor Jesse Carere’s nude backside in a story arc about erectile dysfunction pills. They have since made changes to this earlier version.
Family therapist Terry Real expresses her concerns, warning, “It’s a show about teenagers and it’s created for teenagers and I think it goes pretty far.” He also feels the 10 p.m. timeslot is not enough to deter younger viewers, as most teens are still up late watching. Hoping to reiterate to teens that this show is not an accurate portrayal of reality Real says, “I think it’s terribly important that we let our kids know that this is in fact not the norm.”
MTV released a response to fight back against the accusations. “We are confident that the episodes of ‘Skins’ will not only comply with all applicable legal requirements, but also with our responsibilities to our viewers. We also have taken numerous steps to alert viewers to the strong subject matter so that they can choose for themselves whether it is appropriate.”
Despite these assurances, sponsor Taco Bell has already pulled their ads from the timeslot and moved it to other MTV programming.
