thanks to the help of our friend Marie Davis (once again) we´ve got this lovely music guide of the second episode of skins season 4 "Emily".
You can know which music was played on a certain scene and even listen to the music on our player! (you can listen to the ones with a number)
1 - Temper Trap Sweet Disposition.
This is used at the very start of the episode when Emily is wandering around Naomi’s living room with no clothes on and the postman comes to the door. The Temper Trap are a rock band from Melbourne, Australia. They are noted for their atmospheri sound, featuring grand guitars set to pulsating rhythms.
2 - Tiny Masters of Today - Skeleton Key.
This is played when Emily and Naomi are riding around the town on the scooter. The Tiny Masters of Today are a really young two piece from the USA and they happen to be brother and sister as well.
3 - Black - Wonderful
This is playing through the radio whilst Rob Fitch is in the garage and feeling down about losing the gym and needs a hug off his kids.
4 - 6 Day Riot - Sky Father.
This lot also featured in episode 1 and this song is playing whist Emily and Naomi are riding to collage on the scooter.
Segal - Whitecap Widow 1
This is the first piece from Segal in this episode and is playing when Naomi comes clean to Emily about selling Sophia the MDMA the night she died. This piece builds the increasing tension beautifully.
5 - The Hundred In the Hands - Dressed In Dresden.
You only get to hear the intro to this song but it is played when Emily goes to Sophia’s house. Check the full song out for the poppy tune with some heavy subtle bass.
6 - Max Richter - Organum
This track is used as Emily wonders around Sophia's room and gets confronted by her brother also pocketing the key and prospectus. Max Richter is a German Composer who is currently living in the UK
7 - John & Jehn - Fear, Fear, Fear.
This track is played as Emily wonders through the market and looks through the prospectus that she took from Sophia’s bedroom. Finding the key and a picture inside paranoia is at an all time high. John & Jehn, a low-fi indie duo from France started their musical career when they moved from their hometowns to London at the back end of 2006.
8 - Andrew Davie - No More Flowers.
Effy's back and decides to let Freddy know as this song is playing. This is a solo piece from Andrew Davie out of a band called Cherbour. The song used here is the demo version of No More Flowers, as the slightly lower production value worked a lot better with the pace of the scene. Go check out the mastered version alothough there isnt much difference.
Segal - Whitecap Widow 2
The second part to the track is playing while Emily confronts Naomi about the picture and the key on the football field.
9 - Max Richter - Organum
This song is used for a second time as Emily and Naomi arrive at the cadet centre and open Sophia’s locker to uncover the shrine that she has made for Naomi and the story starts to unravel. This heightens the eeriness of the situation.
10 - Marchsfield Band - Our Director.
This was also recorded especially for Skins and is playing as Emily and Naomi have fun in the cupboard in the centre.
Segal - Whitecap Widow 3
Segal has a big part to play in this episode: the different variations of the Whitecap Widow keeps the tension building.
11 - Alvaro- La Bamba.
This is playing as Emily and Naomi have what looks like the most fun ever in the kitchen.
Segal - Stereo Panic.
Yet another contribution from Segal which is playing as Emily and Naomi enter the house party and as Emily talks to Sophia’s brother outside her house.
Segal - Jang Fett's Cross Dressing Extravaganza
There are two separate tracks in this scene which are both Segal's mixes but both equally as good as eachother.
Segal - Whitecap Widow 4
This is played as Emily and Naomi are in bed and Emily makes a phone call to Sophia’s brother as she realises there is more to the story than meets the eye and it needs to be solved.
Segal - Whitecap Widow 5
This track is playing as Emily approaches the empty night club where the accident happened and she realises that Naomi has cheated on her and why Sophia killed herself. The music bring the emotion to an extreme level
12 - Dinosaur Jr - Said The People.
After talking to her farther about what happened with Naomi, Emily goes to Naomi’s house where we presume that she goes into the house to talk things over this track is playing and also plays the episode out. A brilliant song for a very important scene. Dinosaur Jr. are an American alternative rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1984.
