Do you remember we talked about a new character named Lara in season 4 of Skins??
In the article from Wales Online (06/12/2009) we have a little interview to the actress Georgia Henshaw.
Read it below!
TEEN starlet Georgia Henshaw won’t let her family watch her starring role in hit drama Skins – because she’s so embarrassed about her raunchy sex scenes.
The 16-year-old plays feisty teenage mum Lara in the new series of the show, which will hit our screens next year.
The Swansea starlet said: “I play JJ’s 17-year-old girlfriend, Lara. The whole episode is about us getting together, but there’s problems because I come with a lot of baggage – in the form of a nine-month-old baby.
“I also had to do a sex scene which was very cheeky. I tried to be as professional as I could, but I also made a bit of a joke about it so we were both relaxed and it wasn’t awkward.
“Ollie Barbieri, who plays JJ, has a girlfriend in real life and I was worried what she might think, but she was fine.
“My mum knew about the sex scene but I didn’t let her read the script. I knew she would be fine about it as she knows it’s a massive opportunity for me.
“She won’t be watching those scenes on the television, though, and I won’t let my brother watch any of it.”
Georgia describes her character Lara as a “feisty girl who has her wits about her”, and thinks the two of them definitely have a few things in common.
“She’s got a good head on her shoulders, likes intelligent conversation, knows exactly what she wants and is extremely driven – just like me”, she added.
“I wanted to portray her in a positive way as young mums often get a lot of bad press.
“I didn’t want her to come across as irresponsible so I tried to make her into a strong, savvy character.”
Bubbly blonde Georgia first auditioned for Skins three years ago, but was turned down because of her age.
“I met the casting director and we got on really well, but because I was only 13 she couldn’t use me as all the actors in the show need to be 16 because of the controversial storylines,” said the teenager.
“I said to my mum, ‘Being in Skins is my next goal’, and I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to try again.
“Every summer from then on the casting director would ring my agent, Mark Jermin, and ask him if I was 16 yet.
“Finally, earlier this year I turned 16, so straight away I went for an audition in London.
“I’d just finishing filming for Doctors when I got a phone call from Mark telling me I’d got the part. I was absolutely thrilled as the idea of being in Skins had been in my mind since I was 13.”
As well as being in teen flick Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging, Georgia has also landed herself roles in Casualty, the Catherine Tate Christmas Special, the film Blind Eye and new ITV drama Missing, which hits TV screens next week.
